About Me

Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

Ideas For Your Next Virtual Corporate Wellness Class

by Valerie Stevens

Corporate wellness programs are a great way to encourage employees to make healthy choices. Are you looking for a way to create a wellness class that is fun and fresh? Perhaps your employees don't want to hear a lecture about healthy eating again this month. The good news is that they don't have to. There are plenty of other fun corporate wellness programs your company can do virtually. Here are a few ideas to try.

Designing a Healthy Home Office

If the people attending your virtual class or training work from home, you might use your virtual session to discuss home office ideas. How can someone set up their workspace to minimize distractions and stay healthy?

An ergonomic workstation is key for many people, but it can be difficult to achieve if employees don't know which furniture items are best. This virtual class is a great time to introduce some of the available options.

Yoga, Exercise & Stretching

A virtual yoga or stretching class is a great way to get people up and moving. Many people sit all day, which can lead to stiffness and back pain. Yoga, exercise, or stretching class can help alleviate some of those issues.

If you don't have a certified yoga instructor on staff, there are plenty of online classes employees can follow along with. You might ask that people in the class follow along with a particular video. This is a great class you might choose to incorporate once a week or once a month.

If some employees are local and would like to meet up, you can also meet up for weekly jogging at a park.

Healthy Cooking Class

If your employees are interested in learning how to cook healthier meals, a virtual cooking class is a great option. You can either hire a professional chef to teach the class or have someone on your wellness team who is passionate about cooking lead the class.

This is a great opportunity to share recipes, cooking tips, and healthy ingredients employees can use in their own homes. You can swap lunch ideas for busy work days too.

Virtual Corporate Wellness Courses Can Make a Difference

These are just a few ideas for virtual corporate wellness classes. The key is to make the class interactive and enjoyable.

If employees feel like they're learning something new and helpful, they're more likely to stick with it. Your business reaps the benefits of having healthy and happy employees.
