Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

3 Benefits Of Weight Loss Programs

by Valerie Stevens

Individuals with excess weight experience health conditions like cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Obesity also causes self-esteem issues and leads to stress. Fortunately, individuals can enroll in weight loss programs combining regular exercise with healthy diets. This post highlights the critical benefits of weight loss programs.

1. It Improves Your Health

The primary benefit of weight loss programs is the positive health outcomes. Essentially, excessive weight is associated with chronic diseases. For starters, people with obesity have a high risk of contracting cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks, stroke, and hypertension. When you enroll in weight loss programs, you are assured of shedding excess weight. Thus, your body benefits from increased metabolism, enhancing your heart functions. Also, people who stick to weight loss programs have a low risk of diabetes. The food and exercise routine helps reduce fat tissues, especially liver and abdominal fat, enhancing insulin sensitivity. Lastly, a workout routine reduces the risk of arthritis that puts pressure on joints due to excess weight.

2. It Boosts Your Self Esteem

One of the leading reasons people enroll in weight loss programs is to improve their physical appearance. Usually, obesity causes low self-esteem due to the stigma associated with being overweight. In addition, self-confidence issues can trigger stress and depression. In a worst-case scenario, individuals deal with obesity by adopting poor eating habits due to anxiety. Such a scenario can contribute to eating disorders such as anorexia. In comparison, weight loss programs provide a healthy solution to obesity issues. The personal trainers and physicians offer advice and emotional support to overcome self-esteem issues, gain confidence and adopt a new lifestyle.

3. It Instills Healthy Habits

The major hurdle for people dealing with weight issues is adopting healthy habits. Naturally, people are opposed to any drastic personal change. Yet, positive outcomes through weight loss programs require new exercise and diet habits. A weight loss program helps you gain the discipline and persistence needed to make positive change. The program ensures that you get the proper support from health and exercise professionals. This way, you can overcome the initial resistance to change when you start the new routine. Also, you will have someone to encourage you and help you celebrate the minor achievements towards your fitness goals. Such support and professional advice make it easy to form new habits beneficial to your health.

Weight loss programs enhance the quality of life through physical and mental health. If you want to develop a healthy lifestyle through a new routine of exercise and proper diet, enroll in a professional weight loss program.
