Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

Benefits Of Using Telehealth Services When Suffering From An Injury

by Valerie Stevens

Whether you were injured on the job, while you were playing sports, or in any other way, you might need to look into telehealth services. You might assume that telehealth services are designed for people who are suffering from illnesses. However, telehealth can be helpful if you are suffering from an injury of some type, too, for these reasons.

Avoid Leaving the House When You're Injured

If you are dealing with pain, the last thing that you might feel like doing is leaving your house. If you opt for telehealth services, you can stay at home and rest instead of having to get out when you aren't feeling your best.

Use Your Employer's Preferred Option

If you were injured on the job, then your employer might have told you that you need to seek medical care so that you can file a workers compensation claim. Nowadays, many employers and their workers' compensation insurance companies encourage employees to use telehealth services. If this is something that your employer has recommended, then you may want to opt for telehealth instead of an in-person visit. You may even be able to handle the appointment while at work.

Keep Costs to a Minimum

If you are going to be paying for your appointment, the cost is obviously a concern. In many cases, telehealth is more affordable, so you can get the care that you need without busting your budget.

Get Help

Of course, the whole reason why you might be planning on seeking medical assistance in the first place could be because you're in pain and are hoping to get some help. A telehealth service might be able to provide you with this help. For example, they might be able to recommend steps that you can take to deal with pain, inflammation, and swelling, or they might prescribe pain medication. Hopefully, with the help of a telehealth provider, you can get some relief and can get on the right path to start healing from your injury.

Speed Up In-Person Visits

Hopefully, you will be able to get assistance for your injuries through the telehealth provider. In some cases, however, you might be told that you will need an in-person visit so that a professional can check out your injuries. If this is the case, you may find that your in-person visit will be faster if you use a telehealth service first since the telehealth service can help with narrowing down the issue first.
