Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

3 Things To Know About Treating ED And High Blood Pressure

by Valerie Stevens

High blood pressure is a common problem with men who are in their 50s, and the most common way to treat this problem is through medication. The problem many men experience from taking medication to lower their blood pressure is erectile dysfunction (ED). If you are currently struggling with ED, and if you are on medication for high blood pressure, the medication might be the cause of the problem. If so, here are several things you should know about this.

Some Medications Are More Likely to Cause ED

There are many different medications used to treat high blood pressure, and some of these are known for leaving men with ED and similar problems. The problem is that these medications are often the first ones that doctors prescribe when they detect problems with blood pressure in men. The good news is that there are other types of blood pressure medications that may work to lower blood pressure while not leaving you with ED. You can talk to your doctor about switching your medication if you would like to solve this problem.

ED Medications Are Usually Safe with High Blood Pressure Medications

The second thing to understand is that there are a lot of good options when it comes to medications for treating ED. Viagra, for example, is a very popular medication that seems to offer effective results for many men, but there are other types, too. Before you decide to take any type of ED treatment medication, you should make sure the doctor you go to knows that you are on medication for high blood pressure. You should also bring your medication bottle with so the doctor can see exactly what type of medication it is. While most medications for ED are safe to use while using medication for high blood pressure, there are some that are not.

Trying to Lower Blood Pressure and Weight Naturally May Also Work Well

One other thing to know is that you might be able to solve this problem in a natural way. If you are overweight and have high blood pressure, starting an exercise problem and diet may naturally help you lose weight, and this might naturally help lower your blood pressure. If this is the case, you could stop taking the medication for high blood pressure and you may no longer need medication for ED.

If you are a man with high blood pressure and ED, there are options. Contact a doctor's clinic today to learn more about this.
