I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Any business with a high-stress accounting department should seriously think about integrating the ancient art into a wellness program. Doing so may lead to far fewer costly mistakes when accountants are overwhelmed with paperwork and number crunching.

A person who is stressed out and overburdened at work is not going to maintain the proper mental clarity for highly-detailed accounting work. Mistakes happen when the mind is clouded and distracted. Shorter Durations Still Deliver Results

20 minutes might be the most preferable time to spend on yoga exercises, but not everyone has 20 minutes to spare while working. Five minutes of basic yoga breathing and meditation, however, is sure to be better than nothing at all. An accountant who is trying to check and double-check figures may start to notice he or she is making mistakes. Rather than getting flustered, taking five minutes out for a simple yoga exercise at the desk could help restore the mind to a calm state.

Trying Two Basic Postures

Very basic poses such as the Salutation Seal and the Thunderbolt positions are very easy to perform. They are also well-known for their concentration benefits. Investing a few short minutes in these postures while engaging in breath control may return the mind to the unfettered state that is perfect for accounting work.

Modifying Exercises for Desk Work

Clearly, a person sitting at a desk cannot perform the poses exactly as they would be done on a yoga mat. During the official wellness classes, instructors should be asked to present ways the exercises can be tweaked while sitting at a desk. This way, an employee will know exactly what to do when concentration starts to wander.

Setting Policies for Employees

While accommodating accountants to curtail the chances of mistakes is a good idea, so is maintaining order in the office. Specific rules should be set up so employees know what is and what is not acceptable when it comes time for a yoga break. This way, the office environment remains productive and harmonious.
