About Me

Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

Putting The Finishing Touches On Your Weight Loss: What You Should Know

by Valerie Stevens

When you set yourself a weight loss goal, you know that there will be a lot of hard work and dedication ahead of you. And once you achieve that goal, you could not be more excited and proud of yourself. However, when you look in the mirror, you may still have a few pockets of fat or areas of extra skin that you may want to get rid of to complete your transformation. Get to know some of the options available to you to put the finishing touches on your weight loss, and you will have a complete look in no time.

Ultrasonic Liposuction

Ultrasonic liposuction is also known as noninvasive liposuction and uses ultrasound technology to help get rid of small pockets of unwanted fat cells. The ultrasound is used to target and superheat the fat cells in your abdomen.

The fat cells get damaged and are essentially killed. These treatments are quick, easy, and do not require that you undergo anesthesia  or have to recover from any surgical incisions.

Ultrasonic liposuction is not meant to remove large amounts of fat from the body, and is essentially best for putting those finishing touches on your weight loss or to just get rid of those tiny stubborn areas of belly fat that will not go away no matter how many crunches and sit-ups you do.

Arm Lift

When you lose a great deal of weight, you may find that the excess skin on your upper arms just does not shrink back down the way you want it to. You can do weight lifting and toning to try to firm that skin up, but sometimes there is just nothing that you can do about it.

An arm lift operation will tighten, lift and firm up the skin on your upper arms. The doctor will make an incision in the fleshy part of your upper arm and remove the excess fat and skin. The remaining skin is then stretched and smoothed and the incision closed. Make sure you go to a board certified plastic surgeon for the procedure to avoid poor healing and scarring.

When you lose all of the weight that you set out to lose, you may find that, while you are happy, there are still a few parts of your body that need a little more work. Using these procedures, you can put the finishing touches on your weight loss and get the body you have always wanted.
