About Me

Recovering from Addiction to Prescription Medications

I never thought of myself as an addict, but I did end up addicted to anti-anxiety medication after developing Generalized Anxiety Disorder. At some point, the medicine stopped being a way to deal with the nervousness and panic attacks, and became something my body craved. I knew that I needed help fast. Fortunately, a local drug rehab program includes support for people like me. They helped me wean off the medication, use methods like massage therapy to help my nerves heal, and even provided ongoing counseling for our family. I don't know how I would have made it without their help. If you suspect that your medication has crossed the line from being helpful to hurtful, take heart. Let me tell you about my journey out of addiction and back to wholeness.

Dermal fillers are one of the most common methods that people use to help make their faces look fuller, smoother, and more youthful. These substances are injected under the skin to plump up and smooth the appearance of your face.

Dermal fillers include products such as juvederm, Botox, and the like. They work quickly and effectively to make the skin look younger and fresher. However, they are not permanent. To maintain the effects of the treatments, you will need to continue to get dermal filler injections at semi-regular intervals.

Light-Energy Treatments

While the ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun are damaging to the skin, your doctor or dermatologist can use concentrated, pulsed light to help improve and rejuvenate your skin. One of the biggest signs of aging on the face is the result of damage from the sun, including age spots, discoloration, and possibly even precancerous cells.

Through pulsed light treatments, you doctor can help remove discolorations from the skin and even remove those precancerous cells. Not only do these light treatments help improve the appearance of your skin, but they also are beneficial to the overall health of that skin, helping to prevent skin cancer and further damage.

Facial Plastic Surgery

If you are looking for a more permanent solution for the signs of aging appearing on your face, you may be interested in facial plastic surgery. There are several procedures available to help you with your individual needs.

If, for example, you are concerned about drooping eyelids, you can actually get surgery just on your eyelids. Upper eyelid surgery involves the removal of excess skin from the upper eyelid, and the stretching of the remaining skin to cover the surface smoothly. This creates a more youthful appearance.

Face lift and brow lift surgeries are also used to remove excess skin from the surface of the face, allowing the remaining skin to stretch smoothly over your skull. This can take years or even decades off of the appearance of your face.

Now that you know some of your options to make your face look younger and more vibrant, all you need to do is make your selection and get started. Remember to weigh your options carefully and consider your current needs as you make your decision. Then, contact your doctor or dermatologist to get started.
